Lee Valley Chisels from Japan Since these chisels have just joined my collection of quality tools. It is a bit too early to know how good the whole set will perform. However about a year ago I bought one 3/4" chisel from this set and it has been excellent with a very sharp edge right "out of the box". I researched chisels a bit on the Internet and these seemed to be good value amongst a somewhat limited field of choices. The handles look, feel and perform well.
The blades are very sharp from the factory and could only be made sharper by a sharpening expert who likes to perform surgery and shaving with his chisels. I am in the planning stages of deciding what sharpening tools to purchase and am currently leaning towards the WorkSharp WS3000 system as I don't want to make another hobby out of sharpening when I already have too many hobbies. All 7 chisels seem to be oil coated to prevent corrosion since they have a very shiny brand new look with not a hint of rust, etc.
